UnCategorized A Sagittarian born on 21st Dec 1963 in Virar (Bombay ) India to Hindu father Arun Kumar Ahuja and Muslim mother Nazeem who converted to Hindu and adopted the name Nirmala devi. Govinda is the youngest of six children, which gave him the name (chi-chi means small finger). He studied at Annasahb Vartak College in Vasai.. He graduated in commerce and later developed his passion in dancing which later brought him to get in film industry with his first film as a lead actor in Tan Badan, which was directed by his uncle and in very short span he signed 40 films in 80s and film industry, got a versatile actor. In 1986 his first released was Ilzaam which was the box office success and one of the biggest hit of the year. He acted in all kind of genres from action to comedy, family drama. Most of the film he was paired with Neelam, which gave them both the major hits of their career and being one of the hit pair of 80s. They paired in films like Love 86, (1986), Khudgarz (1987) and Hatya (1988). He also acted in films like Dariya Dil (1988), Jeete Hain Shaan Se (1988) and Hum (1991), he also worked in Marte Dam Tak (1987) and Jung Baaz (1989). His first movie with David Dhawan was Taaqatwar in 1989 and in 90s he collaborated in 17 films. With David Dhawan which all were Box office hit comedy movies which included Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), AankhenRaja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996), Hero No. 1 (1997), Deewana Mastana (1997), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998), Haseena Maan Jaayegi (1999), Anari No.1 (1999) and Jodi No. 1 (2001). He has worked with majority of the actress like Divya Bharati, Juhi Chawala, Karishma Kapoor, Raveena Tondon and many other. In 2000s his career graph went down with the films like Shikari(2000) where he portrayed the role of villain for first time in his career but unable to win the hearts of audience. His career was majorly affected when he entered parliament and won the seat but turned down the roles like Taal, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Devdas, which were the success at box office. In 2004 and 2005 there were no major release but some delayed films like Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karen (2005). His own home production Ssukh (2005) were released which were disaster at box office as well as for his career. In 2006, once again, he enters in industry with the comedy film Bhagam Bhag with Askshay Kumar, which was a box office hit, and once again, entry of Chi- Chi was marked in the film industry. In 2007 Govinda came up with the multi-starrer release Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love the film couldnt make the hit being the hit cast but the role of Govinda was appreciated, the same year his another release was Partner with co star Salman Khan directed by David Dhawan a comedy movie which gross Rs. 300 million. In 2008 he appeared in Money Hai Toh Honey Hai which was fail at box office.In 2009 once again success of life partner was tilted him but also with failure of Do not Disturb grabbed him.
